2nd Annual Conference
for Parents of Children with Autism &
Other Developmental Disabilities
ASDC: Autism Support and Disabilities Center is hosting its 2nd annual community advocacy, education, collaboration, and sustainability conference for Parents of children with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities on January 19, 2024, at the Arc of Hilo Community Event Center from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. It is a free event, and we will provide lunch for all the attendees.
ASDC’s mission is to establish a Call Center to directly link Persons with Disabilities and their families to professional assistance providers. Together with our community partners, we can help promote the wise use of our resources, including law enforcement.
Our goal for this 2nd annual event is to expand the network of community partners, thereby increasing disability support on Hawaii Island. Speakers will discuss “best practices supporting people with Disabilities (PWD). We invite you to join us and be a vendor to showcase your IT business. This will be an opportunity for me to refer organization thats looking for a website design and computer. This collaboration and education will also lead to strengthened training for the state and county agencies, help the families and clients we serve in the community with the nature of their disability, and expand the network of community partners to increase disability support on Hawaii’s Island.

Outcomes:
- Education– Provide community and community partners education on types of disability and available supports. Seven Speakers will discuss “best practices” in supporting PWD in their field;
- Collaboration– Strengthen and establish resource pool based on community disability needs. Fourteen representatives from Community organizations, advocates and co-advocates will have 5 minutes to discuss their “best practices” in supporting PWD in their field.
- Sustainability– Strengthen training for state and county approaches toward people with disabilities. State and County representatives will discuss “best practices” in supporting PWD in their field.
