OUR EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Autism Support and Disabilities Center is a Hawaii non-profit organization registered in Hawaii on July 20, 2021. Our company is located in the Big Island County. This project aims to assist in communication with the Task Force Team, Paramedics, Providers, and Families in facilitating transfers of individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities in Crisis. This project aims to provide referral services, training, education continuum resources, family and client support groups, and community advocacy and promote autism awareness throughout the Big Island, particularly among underserved parents and parents of children who may be inappropriately identified as having disabilities. ASDC’s efforts will protect these individuals’ Mental Health and Social needs to ensure they do not become victims of inappropriate law enforcement responses. These individuals are not suspects or criminals and must be treated in a pro-social manner. The organization’s project geographic target area is the entire Big Island of Hawaii. The project will serve the parents of toddlers and children aged 2 through 26 with a full range of disabilities. The project is designed to streamline the communication process, bridge the gaps in the community, remove the stigma of Autism, promote autism awareness, divert individuals from incarceration, and promote the safety of individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities in crisis.
Executive Summary Mission-The ASDC-Autism Support and Disabilities Call center will directly link persons with special needs and their families to professional assistance providers. Together with community partners, we can help promote the wise use of resources, including law enforcement. We plan to add a facility offering self-sufficiency, training, direct client services, and help individuals achieve their dreams. The company is working with a Certified Crisis Intervention Team that will be responsible for the call when needed. We are working with psychiatrists, Behaviorists, and other professionals in the community to assist us in the education and training process. The program’s first component is the Call Center, which will respond to the call for Individuals with Autism in Crisis. The second component is the Family Support Groups Services and Community Advocacy. The programs offer training, workshops, education, and collaboration-advocacy. Working with other agencies stakeholders through collaborations to serve the families of individuals we serve, the community and other agencies surrounding the Big Island
